Chasing What’s Already Gone surprised me, and in a good way. It’s written by a male author, from the point of view of a male character, which gives a fresh perspective to the story; and nothing is amiss.

Right from when this story begins, it’s glaringly obvious that Danny is a long suffering husband, and his marriage died a while ago. When he sees, and later bumps into, a woman in a shopping centre, fate seems to be working on his side. At first sight, it’s apparent to Danny that this beautiful lady is his soul mate. Now, he just has to find her.

One of my favourite aspects of this book is Danny. He’s a nice guy; soft hearted, handsome, and positively obsessed with his mystery woman. He’s not macho, and he doesn’t seem over the top (which is a relief). I like the characterisation and the way the author included POVs of other characters. I enjoyed the minor characters almost as much as I enjoyed Danny; they all have a mix of different traits, interesting dialogues, and I wasn’t overwhelmed or confused by their different perspectives.

The storyline is well thought out, and quite engaging, and I got some comedy vibes from Danny, especially during his pursuit of his mystery woman. There are some parts of the plot that seem a little creepy (like his stalker tendencies), but those parts only make the story more amusing.

Overall, Chasing What’s Already Gone is a light hearted romance story that has lots of good things going. It’s well thought out, well written, and it would totally leave you smiling.
